Tidbits from the Scriptures
Old Testament
predicts to the day when Christ would enter the city of Jerusalem
Dan 9:25 Know
therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command to
restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be
seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;
Total 69 weeks each week representing 7 years
All Jewish calendars 360 days per year
69*360 = 173,880 days 69 * 7 = 483 years, 483 *
360 days = 173,880 days
WE know exactly the date of the order to rebuild
from history 3-14, 445 B.C. King Artaxerxes
173,880 after that was day Messiah would be
declared prince
April 6, 32 A.D.
We know the high Passover that year was on April 12th,
April 6th would be the previous Sunday
Palm Sunday, King entered Jerusalem on young donkey
with people waving palm leaves and shouting hosannas
Fulfills prophesy of Zechariah 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O
daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is
coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a
donkey,
A colt, the foal of a
donkey.
There were earlier
times when people tried to call him King, but this was the first time he
allowed it
Abraham offering his son on the altar
We’ve all heard this
sacrifice was a “type” of sacrifice that would be done later on
Gen 22 God said take
only son (slave son didn’t count) go into the mountain area of Moriah,
offer sacrifice
Abraham considers his
son dead for 3 days journey
Location of mtn range is
well documented today, was 3 days journey. His home land wasn’t the
right place
On this set of ridges is
where Jerusalem was finally built, but peak of the Mtn was north and
west of the city
Was called place of the
skull because it looked like a skull, this was the exact spot Isaac was
to be sacrificed
We are then told God
would provide a sacrifice to be sacrificed on that Mtn
Several centuries later,
God DID provide a sacrifice that was slain on that mtn, his own son
A
New Beginning for man
Gen 8:4
When the ark rested in the seventh month, the
seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.
Significant date 17th
day of the 7th month was called Nisan, date was 17th day of
Nisan
a new beginning for mankind
Exodus, Passover was to
be held on Nisan 14
Few centuries later,
find Jesus was crucified on Passover, Nisan 14
3 days later, arose on
Nisan 17th, a new beginning for mankind
Psalm 23
Studies galore on this

Look at vs 6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever
Actual meaning of the
word follow, is stronger than what we think. It is like a dog chasing a
rabbit.
God’s goodness will hunt
us down, constantly pursue us, it won’t just tag along with us.
You cannot escape the
good ness of God
Tower of Babel
Gen 11:3
Then they said to one another, "Come, let us
make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and
they had pitch for mortar
Built the tower out of
pitch to make waterproof.. A tower that was built to the heavens and
waterproof?
Why was it waterproof,
maybe because they didn’t believe the word of God that he would never
destroy the earth with flood again?
It
is finished
Greek word
“tetetlestai” it means it is finished, or paid in full
Criminal convicted and
thrown in prison, outside cell was description of charges
When jail term was
finished, judge would write on it “tetetlestai” across the charges
Made him a
free man again and he had it in writing could not be held
responsible again on that charge
Think of Christ on the
cross, sign above him with the charge, King of the Jews
End of his life, uttered
the words “tetetlestai”, or the price has been paid, the prisoners are
set free
We are the
prisoners that were set free, and I’ve got it in writing
Moses enters the promised land
Lead children of Israel
for years, at end, people are murmuring, thirsty
God told him to speak to
the rock and water would come forth
But Moses struck the
rock and said “See what God and I have done for you” in exasperation
God did not allow Moses
to enter the promised land, right? Numbers 20:8
10 And Moses and Aaron
gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to
them,"Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this
rock?" 11 Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his
rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their
animals drank. 12 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, "Because you
did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel,
therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have
given them.
Wrong Matt 17:1-3
Now after six days
Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high
mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face
shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And
behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him
Moses set foot in the promised land after all!
Passover Sacrifices
Passover feast was a
pilgrim feast, meant all able bodied Jews had to go to Jerusalem to
partake
More and more people
every year until priests couldn’t do sacrifices fast enough
Could not
start before 9 AM and had to be done by 3PM in order to be cooked in
time for the feast
Finally went to 2 days
of sacrificing, Thur and Fri
One year the
southern tribes would sacrifice on the 14th and Northern on
the 15th and vice versa
Jesus and his disciples
were celebrating on Thursday, a male lamb with no defects
Had to be
sacrificed between 9 AM and 3 PM
The next day when the
priests were offering sacrifices for the remaining jews, done between
9AM and 3PM
This was the third hour,
and lasted 6 hours
While they were
sacrificing their Passover lamb, the last 3 hours from noon on, it was
dark as night
Matt 27:45
Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all
the land
They were sacrificing
the lamb, but didn’t even realize the real Lamb of God was being
sacrificed at the exact same time Jesus was on the
cross for 9AM until 3PM
